Teen Boot Camps

Abundant Life Academy is a “House of Hope” for troubled teens. We are not a boot camp or wilderness program for troubled teens. Why? Because most boot camps for troubled teens don't work. The idea of a boot camp sounds good, especially to a parent who is fed up with the selfishness of their ungrateful teen. However, if you want real change (heart change) a boot camp is the last thing you want for your struggling teenager.

Boot camps for troubled teens are based on forced compliance through the threat of negative physical and emotional consequences. To the selfish, unmotivated, and self-centered teenager the boot camp experience makes them angrier, and more inclined to distrust adult authority. In many cases, boot camps for troubled teens spiritually wound the troubled boy or girl. Yes, during the course of the camp the camper learns to submit to authority, but at the same time they develop an irrevocable hatred toward stern authoritative figures. Essentially, in many cases boot camps for troubled teens backfire, pushing the troubled teenager into deeper rebellion.

Unfortunately, parents of rebellious teens don't find out the negative consequences of the boot camp experience until after the damage is done. Abundant Life Academy is the alternative to the boot camp. We believe that Jesus is the only answer, and true heart changes come from a rich/real relationship with the Holy Spirit.
 



Abundant Life Academy is among Christian boarding schools with residential therapy and behavioral therapy for troubled teen girls and boys with teen counseling for girls and boys to improve behavior of teenagers struggling with anger, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), attention deficit, attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), substance abuse, depression, reactive attachment disorder (RAD), intermittent explosive disorder (IED), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), eating disorders, self-harm, or rebellion.
