When it comes to struggling teens, their mentality is not focused on their future; it is all about seeking comfort for the moment. In many cases the comfort they seek in the present moment translates into the pain they cause themselves and others in the future.
Our Philosophy for Christian Families
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” – Ephesians 2:10
Everyone was created for a specific purpose, with unique gifts and abilities that come directly from our Creator. Each of us, including the troubled teens who are currently acting out, has a powerful destiny in Christ to fulfill. We all have been given special talents and skills in order to fulfill our purpose.
At ALA, we believe, above all, in the power of the Grace of Jesus Christ. God does not choose to save us because of our abilities, or our righteous acts. He did not choose us because of our obedience, faithfulness, or character. He chose us before we were formed in the womb, before we ever did a righteous act of faith or obedience. We are precious in the site of our Heavenly Father. He chose us regardless of what we have done, because the important thing is not what we can do for Him, it is what Jesus can do through us.
At ALA, our community fosters a spirit of servitude, grace and gratitude for our many blessings. We encourage our students spiritually, and encourage them to openly communicate about their struggles. We promote Community Service and an attitude of helping others, and we believe this helps the ALA students grow in their faith.
