Substance Abuse Treatment Centers for Adolescents |  Addiction issues of Troubled Teens

substance_abuse_pic1Substance Abuse Treatment Centers for Adolescents are normally found in relationship to psych wards and other hardcore treatment programs.  Adolescent Substance Abuse Counseling on the other hand, is not normally associated with adolescents facilities that provide acute mental healthservices. Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment Centers are programs that address the specific issues of substance abuse, providing substance abuse counseling in a residential facility. The effective treatment of adolescents with substance abuse issues and other related behavioral disorders requires an approach that includes attention to every aspect of the troubled teen's life. At Abundant Life Academy (ALA) we provide substance abuse counseling to adolescents struggling with substance abuse by utilizing licensed substance abuse counselors.  In addition, we focus on substance abuse education (prevention), with the intentions of intervening with the student's possible future development of chemical dependency. At ALA we take substance abuse counseling and treatment for adolescents very seriously, providing the very berst professional support for our students, especially those who have come dangereously close to chemical dependency.

Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment Centers represent a specialized field where highly trained and professional staff attack the underlying causes of substance abuse among young people.  Adolescent substance abuse treatment centers provide effective counseling approaches that are focused on the predictable elments underlying the abuse cycle.  Thus, adolescent substance abuse treatment centers are designed to help the young person to understand why they are abusing substances, and how detrimental the use of substances are to their continued emotional growth.  Moreover, adolescent substance abuse treatment centers presents the extreme dangers and consequences associated with the developent of full blown addiction.  The goal at ALA is to arrest the progression of substanc abuse.

Essentially, at Abundant Life Academy the goal is to stop the progression of substance abuse before it goes to far, thus avoiding the issues that come with chemical dependencies. To be effective, substance abuse treatment centers for adolescents (troubled boys and troubled girls) need to look at every individual adolescent as a whoe person, an individual and unique being. In addition to fully understanding the emotional, developmental, physical, psychological, familial, social and cultural factors, to successfully treat adolescents with substance abuse issues the treatment center must have the appropriate resources in place.  For example, to successfully treat adolescents with substance abuse issues the staff must be professionally staffed with licensed couselors.

ALA's co-founder, Abundant Life , states that, “every young person entering rehab programs need to be treated as a unique individuals, with separate and unique needs, and their substance abuse issues are uniques problems as well - essentially, you can't lump every adolecent or troubled teen into one category using only one therapeutic approach.” At ALA we create an ntervention and prevention treatment plan that is tailored to the specific needs of each individual. While the primary focus is on the need to teach the importance of sobriety, other issues such as mental health, behavioral problems, eating disorders, developments of cross-addictions, low self-esteem, anger management and family dysfunction is assessed and addressed for the greatest success of the troubled teen and their families.

One of the biggest reasons why many adolescent rehab facilities fail is that they simply don't offer the kind of complete immersion of sober living, a component to substance abuse treatment that is necessary for success. Essentially, at ALA we create a sober living environment where the adolescent can learn that they can have fun, lead rich and full lives, all without substances. The environment in which teenagers grow up today is different than our past generations, it is much more intense with more potential pitfalls. Not only are there many more substances to try and abuse, but there are greater pressures to use today, especially at younger ages. At the point of substance abuse that could lead to chemical dependency and addiction, it is extremely important to know how to intervene into an adolescents life to stop the progression.  Due to their home, school, and social environments the adolescent struggles to break away from the cycle of abuse because he or she continues to be locked in the same type of lifestyle, hanging out with the same friends, doing the same inappropriate behaviors.  A long-term programs such as Abundant Life Academy takes the adolescent out of the destructive enviornment, thus intervening into the addiction and abuse cycle.

There are many different opinions on this important matter. Addiction is an unfortunate part of life. The reasons for it are as varied as the people whom it afflicts. Just as there are different types of addictions, there are different methods of successful treatment too. It is important to realize that there is no one, unanimous way to cure someone of a drug or alcohol addiction, or to prevent them from the continued abuse of substances. For these reasons Abundant Life Academy is your solution. ALA can cater to each resident on an individual basis in a long-term residential setting, far away from the substances that have lead to abuse/addiction. Our long-term residential program is designed to work with the troubled boys and troubled girls in a safe, drug free environment. ALA is a Christian boarding school that is here to help your troubled teen who is struggling with substance abuse and is in need of substance abuse counseling and treatment. At ALA see every student as an individual, as a whole being, needing specialized support and guidance.  In addition to fully understanding the emotional developmental, physical, psychological, familial, social and cultural factors that influence the behaviors that lead to adolescent substance abuse, we have the know how and wisdom to use this knowledge to steer clear of the destructive nature of addictive behavior.  We focus on these issues as they are the primary cause to substance abuse. Some of our primary focuses are the driving force behind the behavioral problems, such as low self-esteem, identity crisis, peer acceptance issues, depression, and the belief that they will never succeed.  All of these things lead to the adolescent making poor choices, such as substance abuse, which leads to isolation from the family, loss of motivation for school and prosocial activities, and much more.

We will focus on your troubled girl or troubled boy with a deep heart commitment, helping each troubled teenager find the light, and give them hope of a new life. ALA is a spiritual and emotional maturity-training center, providing Christian character development and leadership training. We are here to help break the habits and addictions of your teen and send them down the right path of righteousness.
