Maine is home to thirteen very different and distinctive boarding schools ranging from all boy’s boarding school to co-ed boarding school, and even boarding schools that in addition to providing college preparatory classes, they also teach its students alpine skiing, freestyle skiing and snowboarding!

There is one all boy’s boarding school, and twelve Co-ed boarding schools. Most of the boarding schools are located along the eastern border with the Atlantic Ocean; the others are in the southern and central portions of the state.

Kents Hill School is a coeducational college-preparatory School for students in grades nine through twelve and postgraduate. Located just 15 minutes outside of Maine’s capital city of Augusta, the nearly 600-acre campus is on the summit of a high, rolling hill that overlooks the beautiful valleys and lakes of the Belgrade region.

Maine Central Institute pledges to provide a rigorous, comprehensive educational program to a multicultural student body with a wide range of abilities and interests. In a safe and caring atmosphere, students will acquire knowledge, self-esteem, social responsibility, and the critical thinking and communication skills necessary for global citizenship and lifelong learning.

Bridgton Academy was founded in 1808, Bridgton Academy is the only accredited preparatory school in the United States exclusively offering a postgraduate year; we do not offer lower grades. Foxcroft Academy  was founded in 1823 and is one of the oldest private day and boarding schoolin America. Foxcroft Academy, located in Maine serves a co-ed population of 410 day and boarding students in grades 9-12. Foxcroft Academy is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and a member of the National Association of Independent Schools.

George Stevens Academy is an independent high school located on the coast of Maine. Grounded in its traditions, the Academy is a caring educational community invested in meeting the needs of each student.
