Boarding schools for Troubled boys and girls in Alabama

boarding_school_treeAlabama has eight troubled or struggling teen boarding schools and four traditional style boarding schools within the state.  There are three all boys boarding schools, four all girls boarding schools and five Co-ed boarding schools, and of these boarding schools eight are specific to working with troubled or struggling teens, two are what are commonly known as traditional  style boarding schools and the remaining two are Military style academies and Military Boarding Schools. They also have several Christian Counseling Centers for parents of troubled teens.

Included among the boarding schools is one of the nation’s premier military academies and boarding school, and is one of only four in the country that upon graduation their students are given a 2nd lieutenants officers commission in the reserve armed forces of the U.S. military.

Several of the boarding schools listed have included within their curriculums college preparatory and specialized life skills classes coupled with various degrees of therapeutic components.

What is clearly not one of the options within the state is a Co-ed Christian boarding school such as Abundant Life Academy that has a long history of working with troubled and struggling teens and providing for their education, faith building, and personal therapeutic needs.
