Abundant Life Academy Leadership Challenge Camp for Troubled teens
Abundant Life Leadership Academy offers a short-term “early-intervention” Leadership Challenge Camp designed to restore the troubled teen holistically; restore the troubled boy or troubled girl's academic prowess, restore the struggling teenager's familial relationships, as well as to redirect the struggling teen’s immature behavior before things begin to spiral totally out of control. The purpose of the Leadershp Camp is to present the least restrictive and most affordable option available to parents with troubled teens who are just beginning to act out. The objective is to get this rebellion problem licked early, before the problems are irreversible and permenant. Parents who are struggling with their troubled youth usually have no idea what resources are available to them. Normally parents go to their trusted friends and family first. Friends and family can be helpful, and it is the safest place to start.
Most likely the parent of a troubled teen will find a therapeutic intervention through a local therapist through word of mouth. Therapy works, but only if the client is motivated to change and will be cooperative. Rarely are struggling youth willng or motivated to work on the their issues. Therapy every other week for a year can be very expensive and their are very few positive testimonials of success. Moreover, most rebellious teenagers do not need therapy. Their issues are grounded in "emotional immaturity", and there is no therapeutic modality that I'm aware of that deals with emotional immaturity. At Abundant Life Academy we teach students to be "emotionally intelligent". We call emotional intelligence EQ. EQ is to think before you act, and never make decisions soley on the emotion that is raging and angry. EQ is taught at the best business schools, fortune 500 executive management training, and the US military leadership programs. EQ is so much more effective with immature, selfish, self-centered, spoiled/entitled children. Compared to therapy EQ is very effective. Why waste ten's of thousands of dollars and a year of heartache through therapy when you can get some immediate relief through ALA's Leadership Camp? The Abundant Life Leadership Academy is a highly intensive academic/family restoration and leadership program designed to restore the troubled teen and his/her family in a very short time period. During the 45 to 60 day Challenge Camp the student (both boys and girls, ages 14 to 18) is refocused on academic performance, developing emotional maturity (learning to make proactive/prosocial choices), dealing with adversity (taking responsibility for past poor choices), setting and achieving new goals (proactive and sequential planning), and family restoration (submitting to parental authority).

Where Jesus is the Only Answer for Troubled Teens
Typical Student Candidate: Today’s troubled teens are usually awesome young people, coming from solid Christian families, yet they have become obstinant and are heading in the wrong direction. Some of these troubled boys and girls are struggling academically and need academic restoration (grade repair and credit recovery). The student candidate is displaying behavioral problems due to lack of self esteem and poor decision-making skills. The “troubled teen” that works with is a good-hearted youth but he/she is making poor choices, such as; defiance, laziness, lies to parents, sneaks out and skips school, experimenting with drugs and/or alcohol, may be sexually active, unmotivated, choosing the wrong friends, throws temper tantrums when they don’t get their way. These kids are emotionally immature, self-centered, self-absorbed, and live for the moment. Essentially, they just want to have fun and don’t want to take responsibility. Troubled youth struggle to see the big picture, and fail to equate their poor choices to the adversity that they have created for themselves. Troubled teens blame others for their problems, they justify poor choices, and deflect accountability. The young man or woman we serve seeks fun first, pleasure second, and good times third; and refuse to work hard perservere toward positive progress. These students are in need of self-driven internal discipline and a plan for their future.
Leadership Program: The Abundant Life Academy Leadership Challenge Camp is an intense study of three elements of leadership, along with other highly successful leaderships material. The first is a personality trait assessment called DISC, where a student learns to understand them selves better by learning about their own unique personality style and how to best relate to others around them. Second, they learn about emotional intelligence and what it takes to become more emotionally mature, learning how to read, understand, and regulate emotions in themselves and others so that they can better handle changes and setback. Third is “choice”, meaning learning how to apply intelligence and maturity so that the student makes more choices for themselves that produce an abundance of life’s best gifts. The overall purpose of the leadership program is to help students have a better knowledge and understanding of themselves, their role in society, to help improve personal relationships and to make better choices. Students will be given leadership instruction in two hour long classes weekly, as well as an intense leadership seminar each weekend.
