Abundant Life Academy FAQ’s

Where are you located?

We are located about 90 minutes from the Las Vegas airport.

Can you tell me a little about the Abundant Life Academy Leadership Program?

1. The communities operate on Positive Peer Culture philosophy which basically means that teens listen to their peers long before they listen to their parents. Students who have made enormous progress in the Abundant Life Academy program become the positive leaders and influencers for your teen instead of the negative peers of the present.

2. The Leadership segment operates on a Tri-semester program:

A. KNOW YOURSELF (A study that promotes self knowledge, Aspects of Human Behavior, “How Am I Wired?”, “Who Am I?” and “Where Am I Going?)

B. CHOOSE YOURSELF (In order to get better results, I have to make better choices: the student produces a new life “game plan.)

C. GIVE YOURSELF (The development of the servant-hood principle-the best way to maintain higher standards is to become a teacher and servant to others. A teacher has to maintain the same principle that he is teaching.)

When can I enroll my teen?

Any day of the year: We have a revolving enrollment and are able to enroll all year long. We work closely with the school from which your teen is transferring and they pick up directly from their present course work. We are a fully accredited school and so all credits are transferable. We do not break from academics during the summer.

How would we get our teen to ABUNDANT LIFE ACADEMY?

Most teens would not want to go to a boarding school; it is rare when one actually chooses to change. They think that everyone else has a problem, but not them. The most successful and painless way is to have your teen transported by TRANSPORTEENS. They are professionals who know how to transport your teen safely and without incident. They can be reached at 435-862-8954 for more information. This is the band-aid approach: it hurts for a moment, but then you can be assured of your teen’s safety and also KNOW that help has arrived.

How many students do you have and who qualifies?

Our maximum enrollment is 72 students. We minister to girls and boys between the ages of 12 and 18. We actually have two separate academies for the girls and guys: There is no socializing. The girls academy and guys academy operate on 2 separate schedules and only are together for worship, leadership and Bible. For a complete description of the typical student, go to “STUDENT CRITERIA”.

How much is your program?

The total cost of our program averages around $6.37 per hour. The cost per month is around $4250 per month for the Academic Leadership Program ($41,250 for 9 months). It averages more per month for the shorter term programs which are at an accelerated pace. There are loan options, successful fund raising ideas, and some payment options, including a reduction if paid at time of enrollment.

Do you provide counseling/therapy?

We have a licensed Christian psychologist on staff as well as pastoral counselors from our ministry staff. Three counseling sessions are included in tuition; additional sessions are $25 per hour. If psychiatric visits are deemed necessary, our Christian psychologist works closely with a psychiatrist’s office.

Do you have the backing of any larger institutions?

We are an independent, non-denominational Christian institution with no economic nor doctrinal backing of any other institution. We have a variety of faith based Christian supporters, employees, and families and students: Baptist, non-denominational, Bible Churches, PCA, Reformed, Catholic, Presbyterian. We stand on the Bible alone and the principles taught therein. We are teachers of God’s Amazing Grace found in Jesus Christ alone. For a complete overview, go to our MISSION STATEMENT on our website.

You are so far from my home. How will I communicate with my child and know how he is doing?

We have over 20 employees who have either sent their children to Abundant Life Academy or who have attended the school. We KNOW how tough it can be to be separated from our loved ones, but honestly, how are things working out at home?

We have acquired excellent communication tools. Here’s how they work. A staff member will call you for every day during the first week to give you a 10 minute update. After one week, you will be scheduled to have your first call with your student. You will have calls for every week thereafter.

We have a SRS (Student Reporting System) online for you to check daily notes as well as weekly, monthly, and semester updates and reviews as well as all academic and leadership progress. Intertwined with this system is a TICKET SYSTEM to input requests and questions that may arise.

Our email system is also very easy to access and utilize: all of our staff have an Abundant Life Academy email addy which is their “first name” @abundantlifeacademy.com in order to effectively communicate with us.

You can send “snail mail” letters whenever you wish and you can send emails 3 days a week. Your student can so the same, although there emails are put onto flash drives and entered by a staff member since we do not allow students internet access.

Visits can be scheduled once you have completed your Parent Coaching and Family Conference. There is also a home visit during the third trimester.
