Enrolling Your Teen at ALA
Thank you for your interest in Abundant Life Academy! We are honored to serve you, and our greatest desire is to see God’s will come to pass for you and your family. Our prayer is that you would be filled with his peace that surpasses all understanding through this difficult season.
ALA is very different from other therapeutic boarding schools for troubled teens. First, instead of viewing the teens that come to us as “troubled,” we see them as good kids in need of a heart-change. At ALA, our approach is unwaveringly Christian, and we believe Jesus is the only answer!
How are we different from other schools?
Most schools and programs for troubled teens mix many different types of students together, and they are put in the same program no matter what their unique background is. For example, many schools for rebellious youth are filled with truly “troubled” youth with no spiritual upbringing. The last thing a Christian parent wants is for their child to be thrown into a school with hardcore troubled teens.
Abundant Life Academy works solely with kids who have been raised in the Church, where they have been taught right from wrong, and have a solid faith foundation that needs restoration. The typical potential student for ALA is a child who was raised in the Church, but has deviated from his or her upbringing and is in a state of rebellion. This child is under deception, has succumbed to the lies of the secular society, and is often acting entitled and self-absorbed.
The state of Utah has some of the strictest guidelines and standards for therapeutic boarding schools, with parental rights at the forefront. Among other things, Utah gives parents the right to decide if their child can be kept in a boarding school even if the child doesn’t want to be. In contrast, some other states have laws in place saying the child can legally walk out the door (even if they are under 18) without parental permission or knowledge.
Transforming Lives and Restoring Families
Abundant Life Academy uses an evangelical, Christ-centered approach to reconcile the child to the heart of God, equipping students and families to live a life of love, acceptance and forgiveness as modeled by Jesus Christ. Our focus is on total restoration of the family. Jesus’s simplest charge to us was to love Him and love others. We learn to truly love the Lord when we truly love each other through the understanding of Agape love, acceptance and forgiveness. While we are located in a mostly Mormon state, ALA is not a Mormon program.
Our goal, ultimately, is to see God’s love restore your teen to a life of promise and hope. We use tools that bridge the gap between parents and teens to see this carried out. Abundant Life Academy is truly a place of learning, healing and restoration through grace.

Academic curriculum is included in the monthly tuition fee. Many of our students receive their high school diploma while enrolled with Abundant Life Academy.
Parents are required to provide seasonal clothing, sunglasses, gloves, and other such items. Upon the award of enrollment, each family will be given a comprehensive list of what is acceptable to bring with him or her upon enrollment.
