Group Homes for Troubled Teens
Why do group homes for troubled teens work better then traditional
boarding schools? Christ-centered group homes tend to be smaller,
more intimate, where respect and Godly love can be the most
influential element in creating true heart change. Abundant
Life Academy is a powerful Christian boarding school, yet we
are purposely smaller then most traditional boarding schools.
As a matter of fact, in relation to the number of students we
have we are more like a group home then we are a boarding school.
Why? Because we never want to get so big that we lose the “group
home” like element of our program.
Traditional boarding schools for troubled teens are always
too big (too many kids), and don't have enough “professional”
staff in daily contact with the students. No matter how good
their program most boarding schools for troubled teens allow
kids to fall through the cracks. If the boarding school for
rebellious kids is too big, students can hide and front their
way through the program. Therefore, the possibility of getting
through the program without real heart change is usually the
outcome rather then the exception.
At Abundant Life Academy we work hard at keeping the intimacy
of a group home a foundational element of our program. Our
professional staff are in direct contact with our students
on a daily bases. The “family-like” atmosphere
of a group home for troubled teens is major reason why Abundant
Life Academy is successful in the restoration of the rebellious
teenager.
