Ministry to the ALA Parent

Abundant Life Academy is a powerful Christian boarding school for troubled teens. However, we don’t just work with the student, we work with the family. Our ministry is to restore, rebuild, and to send out. The student comes in and we restore them to Christ (actually, Jesus restores them to the Father and we are just along for the ride), and then we restore them to the family. The parents of ALA will be ministered too… The ALA parent will be involved and a part of everything we do.

The parents of Abundant Life Academy will go through the same training as the students. Our hope is that the families of ALA will take full advantage of all of our services and teachings. All the major teachings and student workshops will be made available to the ALA parents (via live web casts, Internet video streaming, and downloadable videos). There is also a “Parent Manual”. Our expectation is that the parents of ALA will grow just as much, if not more, then their child.

The parent’s training starts out with the Student Manual. We expect the parents to read and study the ALA Student Manual and gain a working knowledge of our program. Then, with the assistance of the Executive Directors, through the Parent Manual, the parents will have their own assignments with expectations of growth. The ALA Leadership Program is for everyone, including the ALA student’s siblings.

Next comes the assessments. All ALA parents are expected to participate by completing the Online Assessments. This is where we begin developing our strategy to restoration. The assessment process along with the “Discovery Report” will shed some light on many subjects and set the parent free from the shame and guilt.

In addition, the ALA parents are expected to participate in the ongoing scheduled family seminars and workshops. These are life-changing experiences led by the Holy Spirit.
