| Abundant Life Academy is
the school for the “academically and spiritually”
rebellious youth, not the “emotionally” disturbed
child. The students who attend Abundant Life Academy at
Kanab are not violent, are not drug addicts, and do not
rebel against authority outside of the home. Abundant
Life Academy at Kanab students are not diagnosed with
mental disorders, personality disorders, or any other
type of emotional or psychological issue. The Abundant
Life Academy at Kanab student is a perfectly normal child
that is suffering from the effects of self-centeredness,
selfishness, ungratefulness, laziness, and needs to get
back on track academically. |

Abundant Life Academy
at Kanab is a school for troubled teens who have
a great deal of academic potential and good hearts,
yet they are currently off track, lost, and wandering
in the desert. Most are selfish, ungrateful, and lazy;
and they are in need of immediate infusion of God's
precious Spirit and a restored relationship with Jesus
Christ. Such teens become selfless, thankful, and motivated
to excel to the glory of God!.

Troubled Teens who come from good
families

kid who comes from a good family, has tremendous gifting
and talent, yet appreciates nothing, is unmotivated, believes
the world owes him/her everything, and refuses to hold
him/herself accountable, pushing off responsibility of
his/her immature behavior onto everyone else, especially
his/her parents. We call it Entitlementitis.”

Abundant Life Academy is a Christian boarding school. We
serve good kids [good hearted kids who already have a solid
foundation but are beginning to stray from the truth] from
good families. What makes us different? Like other powerful
Christian programs we offer a fully accredited academic program
[many of our students graduate from ALA earning high school
diplomas and enroll directly into college], team sports [football,
basketball, baseball/softball], and most importantly, we offer
Mercy Ministries. Mercy Ministries are evangelical-based outreach
projects presented to our local community. Moreover, our students
serve on mercy ministry mission’s trips throughout the
United States. Furthermore, our students participate in international
mercy ministries mission’s trips [Abundant Life Academy
students participate in mercy ministry trips to Mexico, Thailand,
Russia, and more…] before they graduate from the program.
Essentially, ALA operates more like a traditional boarding
school and not like a program for troubled teens. Therefore,
a better description of Abundant Life Academy is to say that
we are a “Leadership Program” for gifted kids.
More on Christian Boarding Schools
The main difference between Abundant Life Academy and all
other programs is that we stay true to our calling. We serve
the Christian family who believes that Jesus is the only answer.
Moreover, we don’t mix “hard kids” [“hard
kids” are kids with deep mental issues and/or major
drug and alcohol problems] with “soft kids [soft kids
are children who are selfish, entitled, and self-centered
and have not traveled down the road of tremendous rebellion].
Hard kids have no conscious and no moral foundation in Christ
and need specialized programs. Abundant Life Academy at Kanab
works exclusively with the soft kids. All other programs mix
the two populations together and by doing so bring great harm
to the “soft kids”. Additionally, all of the best
Christ-centered programs for troubled teens use a therapeutic-based
[humanistic/therapy based] approach in serving their clients.
We don’t. We truly believe that Jesus is the only answer
and we don’t have any problem declaring this truth!

Children who have Entitlementitis
are basically good kids from Christian families who have
been spoiled by the prosperity of their parents and the
nation. Entitlementitis may not be a real disease, but
it should be. The symptoms of Entitlementitis are all
the same; whether your troubled teen is from San Diego
or Cape Cod the immaturity patterns are identical. What
are the symptoms? If your son or daughter has been blessed
with every resource possible yet demonstrates a serious
lack of appreciation and respect, is unmotivated, is rebellious
towards parental authority, blames others, is never at
fault, and declares that his/her parents are retarded,
then your child has Entitlementitis.”

| Our purpose is to restore students to a
life of power, purpose, and potential in Jesus Christ. Our purpose
is to introduce, or re-introduce, our students to the Holy Spirit.
Abundant Life Academy at Kanab is a Christian leadership school
designed for the gifted, yet unmotivated student who is fixated
on feeding his/her fleshly desires. Essentially, we revive the
academic and spiritual hope that was once great in your now
struggling child by restoring his/her relationship with God.
What has been dimmed due to numerous poor choices and harmful
friends can be restored through a reconnection with Jesus; through
prayer, worship, and a renewed relationship with the Son of
God immature kids are revived. We don't need to tell you that
your child is lost, and in need of truth… however, let
us show you a future for your child that is in alignment and
harmony with God's purpose and plan for their life. |

SPIRITUAL AND ACADEMIC PROGRAMS FOR TROUBLED TEENS |

Abundant Life Academy is a Christian boarding schools that
serves troubled teens * dedicated to getting them back on the
right track and back onto the pathway toward their destiny in
Christ. Abundant Life Academy can be considered to be a spiritual
and academic boot camp for kids who are acting out. However,
we are far from the typical boot camp. First, we don't serve
kids who are emotionally disturbed. Second, we provide a Christian
atmosphere where students can reconnect with the powerful Christ-centered
disciplines such as prayer, worship, and daily Bible study.
However, it should be noted that Abundant Life Academy 's description
of a “troubled teen” is much different then most.
Abundant Life Academy does not serve children with acute mental
health needs, a history of violence or crime, oppositional defiance
disorder, or students who are in need of a psychological therapeutic
treatment (including drug and alcohol treatment). Basically,
the Abundant Life Academy student is a good kid from a good
Christian family, yet is immature and in need of a reintroduction
to spiritual and academic discipline (good work ethic).

| The teens of today were born between 1988
and 1994. During and since that time, the spiritual and
moral atmosphere of the world has changed dramatically,
so today’s teens do not even have a memory of life
as today’s parents and grandparents knew it to have
been. Morality, decency, discipline, commitment to Christian
values and a good work ethic are not something that today’s
teens have seen modeled by society and culture overall.
Movies, TV, computers, and media portray different values
in life than previous generations knew; and today’s
teens get most of their information from those just mentioned
sources. As children, they were not “aware”
of the culture or its values; and now that they are in
their adolescent years where they are “gathering”
information concerning what life is about, they are not
finding good cultural models. |

| Christian parents struggle for needed “tools”
that are relevant to today’s teen to help them learn to
“see” the world through Biblical glasses. At Abundant
Life Academy, we have committed ourselves to develop a curriculum
that will specifically target this lack and help those who come
to us to gain a new way of “seeing” things. |

| We believe that God’s Word is the foundation of our
perspectives and choices, and we challenge the ALA teens to
get a new T.W.I.S.T. (acronym for “The Way I See Things”.
God has a TWIST, and it is Truth. As parents and teachers of
teens, our heart cries out in agreement with John’s statement
found in 3 John 4. |
